London has influenced my style so much since I moved here. It’s made me a lot more daring in my fashion choices and it has also taught me a lot about versatility and functionality.
This city doesn’t stop for anyone, so finding the time to change between meetings and events is as impossible as finding a parking spot near Sloane Square on a Saturday. If I can’t wear an item from 9am to 9pm it’s probably staying in my closet. In London, your clothes have to be as versatile as you are, and work twice as hard.
I have some fail-safe pieces in my wardrobe that keep me looking and feeling fresh throughout my busiest days whether I’m on the tube or the TV (or both!) The first is a velvet blazer.
Putting a modern twist on the classic blazer, Racil Chalhoub combines Savile Row materials and Parisian tailoring in this perfect piece. A blazer is a great way to elevate any outfit, however, a velvet blazer really takes your look to new heights; it’s both fashionable and functional and will not look out of place whether you’re in the boardroom or a cocktail bar.
I think that wearing clothes that fit flawlessly is important anytime, but especially on days when you can’t go home to refresh between commitments. There is nothing worse than looking and feeling sloppy, and sloppy happens when your clothes can’t keep up with you! Anything in your wardrobe that is exceptionally tailored will keep you looking stylish on those long days. Keep the colour palette primary to ensure your outfit is professional (black is always the safest bet) and opt for boots instead of strapped sandals; this way you’ll be able to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Follow these tips and I guarantee your wardrobe will work (and play) as hard as you do!
