Lady London in Saint Laurent

untitled-20 copy

I may not have a title, but as fate would have it, in London: I am a Lady.  If you tune into the Ladies of London on Bravo, you probably know me as the loud, opinionated American, and at my core I am all these things and I am proud of it.

But like anyone, there are many different things that make up who I am, and I’m actually a lot more lady-like in real life than the cameras would have you believe. That’s why I love dressing like a demure dame, it really plays up that aspect of who I am, and I love it, just as I love acting (I studied acting in LA for 5 years).

This dress is the embodiment of my personality. It is ladylike, but with a lot of edge (sound familiar?). It is feminine, without being overly girly, which I love. To me, nobody can make femininity look as cool as Saint Laurent. Heidi Slimane has the innate ability to take very feminine elements and combine them in such a way that they ooze rock and roll. He has perfected the art of the mix and mismatch, pairing mod geometrics, luxurious fabrics, lace, buttons and bows to create pieces that have a certain je ne sais quoi.

Heidi Slimane may have departed Saint Laurent, but I’m confident Anthony Vaccarello will bless my closet with more of these must have dresses. The Yves’ aesthetic has stayed relevant for decades because season after season the pieces stay utterly relevant to the lives of the people who wear them. I feel at home in this dress both on screen and on the street, and that’s the beauty of YSL
