Denim Cutoffs/The Short of It

On Season 1 of Ladies of London on Bravo (Season 2 is airing Summer 2015) my dear friend, Caroline Stanbury gave me a hard time for wearing very short denim cutoffs to a Fourth of July party here in London.

Jean shorts have always been part of my summertime wardrobe – short, long, ripped, rolled, all of which I wear when the temperature heats up.  The current “must have” brand for deconstructed denim jeans and cutoffs is ONE TEASPOON, and while I couldn’t find the brand anywhere in London, fortunately ASOS, Free People, Nasty Gal, SHOPBOP and The Dreslyn all carry it online.  My favorite two styles of cutoffs, the Bandits and Bonitas are perfectly frayed and ripped, super short and majorly comfortable which will come in handy for music festivals in the heat and getting some Vitamin D on my legs.

Showing all this leg is about as risqué as it gets for me in the clothes department, you won’t often find me revealing this much of my body, like ever.  And while my mom, yells at me “Why can’t you dress more sexy like Joanna Krupa from Housewives of Miami” she doesn’t understand that body-con dresses and midriff tops are pretty much non-existent in my wardrobe.

Daisy dukes on the other hand, are a coveted part of my wardrobe and can settle in for more than half a lifetime in my closet.  One pair of my Levi’s Original cutoffs dates back to the Summer of ’92, I wore them in high school!  Ironically, Caroline is just as much a lover of a great pair of denim cutoffs as I am, knowing that a good pair can really go a long way, like omg…….23 years!
