I like my outfits to be a mix of designers and high street. My favourite part of wearing a high street label with a designer label is the surprise when a girlfriend will ask me where my top is from and I get to tell her it’s from Asos!
When it comes to mixing high fashion and fast fashion it pays to know when to save and when to splurge. The skeleton of your outfit (handbag, shoes, and coat) should be your big-ticket items. These are the pieces you’ll likely be wearing on and off regularly so you will get your money’s worth. When you pay more for something you are paying more for the quality of the fabrics and the craftsmanship. The higher the quality the longer these items will last, so for me I like to invest in shoes, bags and coats that I love and will be with me season after season.
Get your trend pieces from fast fashion stores, as you’ll only be excited about them for a season or two before you stop wearing them regularly. You can also feel good about buying your signature staples for less on the high street as the stores are better than ever before. In the past you would have been advised to spend more money on basics, however now you can get really great jeans, tees, trousers and blouses from the high street. In this look my jeans and sweater are both from Asos and retail for under $100!
