It might be back-to-school time in the U.S., but in the U.K. school just let out mid-Jul and won’t start back up again until well into September. My kids and I are only beginning to settle into our summer, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get a head start on the new school year… especially if you know me, shopping is involved! Getting school supplies and books is the easy part, but I think finding the best sneakers and backpacks is most important since they need to be comfortable and are the ultimate style symbol. For me, Nike is a one-stop back-to-school shop.
We’ve always been a Nike family. My kids – Georgina (9), Truman (6) – play a lot of sports during the year between tennis, golf, football (soccer), rounders (kind of like baseball) and netball (most similar to basketball). When it’s time for them to go back-to-school shopping, the prep work is pretty easy as they wear uniforms to school everyday, but their sneakers have to be all-white (the school rules). Luckily, this year Nike launched the Young Athletes, Black & White collection which is stocked with both all-black and all-white, cool, stylish sneakers.
Georgina and Truman both already have their own strong fashion opinions. (Gee, wonder where they get that from?) And, they also both love to shop, especially for shoes. (Hmmmm… apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!)
My motto maybe more of ‘one can never have too many shoes’ but with Georgina and Truman its mostly sneakers. They both recently chose the new Nike Air Max Zero sneakers in white and I liked the style so much, I had to get a pair too. They’re practical, beyond comfortable and since they’re Nike, they’re also great quality and could last all year, that is, if they don’t grow – always happens way too fast!
As much as I love a great pair of heels, they’re not perfect for running between meetings, school events and family time, so these women’s Nike Air Max Zero sneakers are part of my new sporty-on-the-go fashionista uniform. Pair them with jeans and a cool utility jacket and, well, there’s your mom back-to-school uniform.
Who said back-to-school shopping is drag? With some help from Nike, I’m always happy to – Just Do It.
